“Judge us not by the promises we make, the stories we tell, nor the ads we run. Measure us, by all means, by the policies and proposals we lay forth for your consideration. But judge us as well by the example we set; by the way we conduct our campaigns; by the way we personally practice politics.”

– John McCain

Excerpt from an interview with Cindy McCain:

McCAIN: And what you’re going to see is, I believe we’re going to see a great debate, which the American public deserves, more importantly. None of this negative stuff, though. You won’t see it come out of our side at all, because –

CURRY: None of the negative stuff will come out of your side?

McCAIN: My husband is absolutely opposed to any negative campaigning at all.

CURRY: It’s six months to go before the election. You talk about — that none of the nasty kind of campaigning that we’ve been seeing will come from your side. But are you prepared for the next six months, knowing that that’s how it generally does go?

McCAIN: Well, I’m never ready for those kinds of things, particularly when it involves my children. But I can tell you that having been through this before, I’m actually glad — grateful that I’ve been through it before, because if things do turn that way from the other side, I would hope that I would behave the same way I did before, and that is with grace and with dignity. And rise above it.

CURRY: Even if it doesn’t help you win the presidency?

McCAIN: I believe I can speak for my husband on this same thing. We’d rather not win than to have to do that. That’s not worth winning for.

McCain Says Senate Silence Was Act of Bipartisanship
By Michael Abramowitz

DENVER — Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) says he didn’t speak on the Senate floor in favor of the economic rescue plan Wednesday night because he didn’t think the Democrats wanted him or his politics there, and he did not want to get in the way of bipartisan progress on the bill, according to the Denver Post.

In an hour-long interview here with the Post’s editorial board, McCain addressed his silence on the Senate floor, which stood in contrast to Democrat Barack Obama, who delivered a floor speech in favor of the measure. McCain did say he was making calls to House members and had persuaded fellow Arizonan, Rep. John Shaddeg (R) to support the bill when it comes up for another vote this afternoon.

“I have never been any good at threatening people,” McCain told the Post.

A huge Motrin, a borderline unwise number of Tylenols, a few bottles of water, and an ice pack later, I feel mostly human. I think it may have been sleep deprivation and dehydration… (thanks to everyone for the advice! =D ).

I popped one of my C-section stitches at some point tonight, which is annoying, stingy, and a little gross.

Baby is fussy. I think she’s irritated, as I am, from listening to Palin’s voice.

Watched the debate on tivo. FWIW, I think Biden rocked the house. I know many of you will disagree, but I think he did better in this debate than Obama did in his last one.

Arianna Huffington FTW. My favorite line: It was the folksiest appearance since Hee-Haw went off the air.

I’d comment on the debate more, but my eyes still hurt a bit.

My baby is really, really fussy. Its going to be a very long night.

I have the worst headache I have ever had in my entire life. No exaggeration. Tylenol actually seems to have made it worse.

Members Of Twisted Sister Now Willing To Take It

NEW YORK—In a stunning reversal of their long-stated reluctance to take it, members of heavy-metal band Twisted Sister announced Monday that, after 24 years of fervent refusal, they are now willing to take it. “I acknowledge that we promised not to take it anymore, but things change. The world is a different place today, and with that in mind, we would like to go on record as saying that, starting right now, we are going to take it,” read a statement released by the band’s lead singer, Dee Snider. “To clarify, we would still prefer not to take it, but as of now, taking it is an option that we would be open to. That is all.” Bassist Mark “the Animal” Mendoza also stated that, in regards to what he wants to do with his life, he no longer solely wants to rock, but would instead prefer doing other things, such as raising a family and working as a claims adjuster in Rye, NY.
