Happy Father’s Day, Ted. You are a wonderful, wonderful daddy, and a wonderful, wonderful husband. Lilith and I are blessed to have you. Thank you for always playing dress up, drinking innumerable cups of invisible tea, and laying in the dirt on command when Lilith asks you to pretend to be Lightly Drowned Prince Eric. Thank you for taking care of us when we’re sick, and hugging us when we’re blue. Thank you for always being there when we need you, and for always being patient, kind, funny, and compassionate. Thank you for everything you are and everything you do. You make your womenfolk happier than you can imagine. We love you.

Today. https://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=2419 https://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=2419#respond Sun, 05 Feb 2012 00:51:02 +0000 http://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=2419 Today I…
… played Rapunzel with my daughter. She calls me Mother Goblin, and makes me climb stretched out t-shirts in order to get onto the couch.
… did a shitload in the garden, including transplanting the tulsi and fertilizing pretty much everything.
… put a crapload of brahmi amla oil in my hair to try to repair eleven years of dreadlock damage.
… wrote two whopping sentences of my short story.
… still didn’t finish answering emails.
… got nowhere cleaning the still room.
… attempted to archive more Lilith Stories onto my blog.

The demoness is in bed, and Teddy is home from work, taking a Dad Nap on the couch. I’m heading up to the bath while the house is quiet.

Let’s see what I can get done tonight. Idle hands, and all that.

I’ve been so busy the past few years that I haven’t really blogged. To be honest, I haven’t done much more than work, parent, and work some more. I had every intention of blogging up Lilith’s life so that I’d always remember… well, everything. It was just so difficult to pull off with the hours that I’ve been working. At the end of the day, I’ve just been drained dry. I’m making an effort to go back through Facebook and grab all the snippits of life I’d posted there and compile them in my blog.

It’s a daunting endeavor. Looking back through the years to 2008… I still seem to talk quite a lot, but only in tiny, tiny sentences.

100 Things to Do In LA With Your Kids Before They Grow Up https://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=2002 https://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=2002#respond Sat, 21 Jan 2012 03:29:27 +0000 http://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=2002 Mostly linking to this so I remember it!

So far, we’ve:
… taken Lilith to Kidspace. We’re members, even.
… taken Lilith to Disneyland. Season pass holders for the past decade!
… taken Lilith to the California Science Center. No high-wire bicycle shenannigans yet, though.
… taken Lilith to the Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum.
… taken Lilith to Ren Faire.

Aaaaaaaaaand, that’s about it.

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way than this:

where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

WoW Insider Profiles My Big Brother! https://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=161 https://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=161#respond Thu, 20 Oct 2011 01:01:37 +0000 http://www.nonomnismoriar.org/?p=161

How does the well-groomed Worgen smell when he’s brushed up for a hot date? No, no, not wet dog — his choice would be more reminiscent of a “foresty musk, totally feral.” And the fashionable Forsaken? Good heavens, not moist earth or moldering flesh! The scent of choice is “Supergoth Gloom & Doom,” of course. WoW Insider brings you these points of fact courtesy of none other than Brian Constantine, co-owner and CEO of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, purveyors of handcrafted fragrance blends featuring what the company website calls a “dark, romantic Gothic tone” — and what Brian calls “awesome weirdness.”
